Talaq (Initiated by Husband)

The husband sends a written notice to the Union Council. Talaq becomes effective after a 90-day reconciliation period (iddat), unless revoked.

Khula (Initiated by Wife)

The wife files a petition in Family Court. The court attempts reconciliation; if it fails, the court may grant a Khula decree, typically conditional on returning the dower (Haq Mehr).
